Self Portrait vs. the Selfie

A selfie is a casual picture that one takes of oneself on a smartphone. The intent of a selfie is usually to post on social media. A selfie has recently become very important for social media purposes, as a way to express yourself and to show others what your're doing. A self portrait is a picture that you take of yourself on a professional camera. The self portrait is normally taken more seriously than a selfie, because there's more time and thought put into taking the photo.

A selfie is normally taken at arms reach, or taken of oneself in the mirror. A selfie is taken spontaneously, and as opposed to a self portrait, not much thought is taken into consideration in preparation for taken the picture. A self portrait is normally taken on a professional camera that is put on a tripod. A self portrait requires a lot of thought about the face expression, background, and clothes that are worn.

I prefer a selfie because I think that it is more relaxed and more usable for everyday pictures of oneself.
I don't think that either one is more valuable than the other one. This is because they're each used for different reasons. So, the selfie is more valuable for the purpose that it's used for, while the self portrait would be more valuable for it's purpose, as opposed to a selfie in that situation.

Phobia Project Preview

1. A phobia is a fear of an object or a situation.
2. Ablutophobia- the fear of washing or bathing, Bibliophobia- the fear of books, Cacophobia- the fear of ugliness, Didaskaleinophobia- the fear of going to school, Ephebiphobia- the fear of teenagers.
3. Phobias for the shoot:
a. Ligyrophobia- Fear of loud noises.
b. Demophobia- Fear of crowds. (Agoraphobia)
c. Laliophobia or Lalophobia- Fear of speaking.

a. I could shoot Ligyrophobia, or the fear of load noises by having my model scrunch up their eyes and push their hands up against their ears, in attempt to block the supposed sound. I could put them in a room with a blank wall and have them up against that, while using rule of thirds. I would have the lighting focused on them, and have them dress casually.

b. I could shoot Demophobia, or the fear of crowds by having my model sit down against a wall with their hands wrapped around their knees, while looking down in their lap. Their facial expression would be sad, and the background lighting would be pretty dark. Also, they would wear dark colors.

c. I could shot Laliophobia/Lalophobia by having my model have tape covering their mouth, while they're standing up. Their eyes would be wide, and they would be wearing plain colors. They could have their finger up, in attempt to show that they wouldn't speak, and also be following rule of thirds.

4. Some techniques that could help me with my photos are:
a. Ligyrophobia- background: make the background plain
b. Demophobia- viewpoint: did a photo from above, or an interesting viewpoint
c. Laliophobia/Lalophobia: use symmetry with the objects in the picture

Welcome Back!

This is one of my favorite pictures because I like the angle at which it was shot, and the inspirational event that's occurring in this photo.
This is one of my favorite photos because of the unique angle that it's taken at, and the contrast of the colors.
This is one of my favorite photos because it's a very pretty picture that's visually pleasing to look at, and it has a hopeful story behind it.

Interesting 2016 Things:

I was mainly attracted because I liked the previous movie made. This movie was the best of 2016 because it was funny, cute, and long-awaited.

3. Most Important New Story:

I chose this as my main choice because I think that it was a very important event that not only the U.S. citizens, but citizens of other countries were paying attention to, and a story with a roller coaster like ride to the finish. The fact that it was going to affect me is what attracted me to this story. This story was the best of 2016 because it was a very important event to happen to the United States.

4. Most Important Person:

I chose this person as my main choice because I think that she was inspirational and that her path through the presidential election was very interesting to follow. The fact that she was a woman running for office attracted me to her. She was the most important person of 2016 because she fought with wisdom for something that she wanted to do, and did it while talking about good messages.

5. Biggest Sports Person:

I chose Simon Biles as the most important sports person because she won gold in many events in the Olympics, and was named the best gymnast in the world. The amount of accomplishments she's done, and what she's using her fame for attracted me to her. She is the most important sport person of 2016 because she is helping others, and was very successful with everything that she's done, including not losing anything she's participated in for the last few years.
